Be Good, Be Bad, Just Be

Just a quick update here. My dad came home with a computer he snagged from work with the intention of replacing our server. Our old box, cheesepizza, has now been replaced with cheesierpizza, and life is good. Its actually a better machine, with a 64-bit architecture, more RAM and more cores. Its not the best machine I’ve ever seen (that title belongs to my personal computer, veggiepizza — you should be sensing a theme here), but it was free. I’m very thankful.

I migrated everything over today, with only some minor hiccups. As of now, everything should be working as before. Nonetheless, if you tried to get a connection in the last few hours, you probably were having little success. Overall, you might notice faster page loading times, although we still have the same mediocre network connection so I doubt much change.

Also, we’re not dead — just busy. :)

Update (1-11-12): I forgot to mention that I’ve had to disable the connect with Facebook feature for adding comments. Apparently, you need a Facebook account to develop an application on their platform (we just have an app for the API key). Since I haven’t had an account on Facebook for over a year, I used Adam’s account to create it. It seems that he had enough of Facebook’s bullshit too and deactivated his account. Consequentially, our app went with him. Since Sean is the only one who still has a Facebook, I’ll see if I can get the app put under his account. Until that happens (I’m pretty lazy), you’ll have to live without it. Sorryz!

Howdy y’all!

The lack of posts on the site from me is not too startling, seeing as how Olympia is keeping me busy with school-work, forest, coffee, wine, and music.  I’ll be sure to put up some artist posts in the near future, seeing as how I’m trying to get myself in some sort of rhythm with sharing new (and old) music I love with all you lovely internet users.  Anyway,  here’s a taste from a hell of a show  from this past October.  This is a vid capturing the release party for the dopest of local zines, “Nuts!”.  You’ll see some of Oly’s finest acts; Son Skull, Broken Water, Milk Music, and many others.  Just check it out and enjoy.  Remember, “It’s the Water.”

Arrivederci. And check this video out.

Nujabes

This is a question that needs addressing right now. Wait, what? But seriously, Nujabes is the shit you put on after a long day working on the oil rig. You’re muscles are tired, eyes just drooping, but you need something to calm your mind before bed. If someone were to ask me to describe Nujabes in the fewest words possible, I’d say “warm milk.” Its that delicate hip-hop that only some dead Japanese guy could bring you (God, rest his soul).

There’s only so much that can be said here. His real name is Jun Seba. If you spell his name backwards, in Japanese ordering, you get Nujabes, and no matter how you spell it, you pronounce it “quietly cool.” He only produced 2 solo records (3, if you count the anime effort) before a car accident took his life, but needless to say, I love his work. If you’re looking for Japanese hip-hop with heavy jazz influences, this is your fix. If not, make it what you want, fool.

Be at peace, friends.
